Youth Program Facilitator
Favorite quote about peace:
“The most fundamental aggression to ourselves, the most fundamental harm we can do to ourselves, is to remain ignorant by not having the courage and the respect to look at ourselves honestly and gently.” – Pema Chodron, When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice for Difficult Times
What I love about Peace Learning Center:
I love the PLC because we are working with the Indiana community. When I work with youth I am filled with hope that our future will be more loving and peaceful.
Favorite moment at Peace Learning Center:
One of my favorite moments at the PLC was participating in a multi-age conversation between IPS High School students and the Chief of Police. Our young adults were able to describe the kind of programing and activities they need more of. It was an exciting first step in opening communication and encouraging youth voice in violence prevention. It was amazing to see how youth have the answers; they just need to be heard.
Favorite thing to do outside of work:
Outside of work I enjoy making friends and being active. I love going to First Friday events, dancing, making art, and being in nature. I am a fan of talking to strangers, thus travel is near and dear to my heart. Strangers have been kind to me and have broadened my perspectives on the human experience. In order to learn from more strangers, soon to be friends, I am learning Spanish and practicing the language of the Ukulele.
