Job Title:          Director of Programs

Status:                Full Time – Exempt

Reports to:      Executive Director, Human Resources

Supervises:     Program Directors, Facilitators/Coordinators

Primary Function/Purpose:

Leads Program Directors and Facilitator/Coordinators of Peace Learning Center

Manages Peace Learning Center Programming

Position Responsibilities

Programs:

  • Facilitates programs as needed
  • Helps establish partner schools and agencies
  • Develops and implements program improvements and initiatives
  • Facilitates professional development as needed
  • Works with school administration and organizations to develop contracts, MOUs, program plans, and special projects
  • Works with HR Director on HR related issues for the program team, using RJP, mediation, and consensus methods
  • Maintains timely communication with all relevant external partners
  • Maintains timely communication with colleagues
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism at all times
  • Contributes to management decision-making
  • Monitors program progress, outcomes and evaluations
  • Models and maintains an environment of respect, positive communication skills, good judgment and professional behavior for Facilitators/Coordinators and PLC as a whole
  • Attends PLC meetings, Program Team meetings, and PLC Board meetings (board meetings as requested)
  • Annual performance review of program team members and evaluation of programs
  • Help create program team norms
  • Creates and monitors program budgets
  • Create monthly board reports and other reports as requested
  • Attend trainings and professional development as required/requested or needed
  • Facilitates and/or is the organizer of the program team and Facilitator/Coordinator meetings
  • Works with Director of Operations and Director of Engagement with regards to grant opportunities, community relationships, and program opportunities
  • Assists and supervises program scheduler
  • Leads/facilitates/works with Program Team to create unified program plans and offerings
  • Intentionally facilitates accountability throughout the Program Team, curriculum and programmatic aspects/relationships of the organization to PLC’s vision/mission/values
  • Approves Program Team timesheets, PTO, and contractor pay; Approves Program Team professional development requests, mileage, etc.
  • Model and maintain PLC values: relationships, equitable practices, antiracism, inclusiveness, learning, sustainability, and accountability
  • Demonstrate respect and appreciation for all individuals, regardless of their background, race, age, gender, religion, physical or mental ability and sexual orientation
  • Continuous development of new knowledge and improvement of facilitation skills
  • Participate in on-going practices and procedures to interrupt institutional oppression on all levels (ideological, institutional, interpersonal, and internalized), as is an enactment of PLC mission/vision/values
  • Other duties as needed or assigned

Position Competencies/Requirements

  • Will model and use Peace Learning Center’s practices of healthy communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution, using Restorative Practices, mediation and consensus
  • Detail-oriented, organized and able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Responsible, reliable and energetic
  • Has professional writing, editing, proofreading and communication skills
  • Have proficiency and experience with online research
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills
  • Has attended and facilitated antiracism/antiwhite supremacy and other equity/liberation-based trainings, community dialogues, courses, and workshops
  • Has participated in or organized with community for institutional change within organizations and/or in larger institutional change campaigns
  • Is willing to work with majority white groups and people of color to grapple with the different elements of understanding equity
  • Must be able to pass a background check consisting of National Sex Offender and Criminal History

Other:

  • Access to reliable transportation is required
  • Some evening and weekend work
  • Ability to transport supplies to facilitation site
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Docs

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred, and/or two years experience in program management, program development, and management, training design and facilitation, human service experience, preferable in youth-serving organizations with direct client service.
