Trauma-Informed Emotional Self-Regulation Facilitation 101 (6 hours) for Youth-Serving Professionals (up to 35 participants):

This is a day-long program to teach emotional self-awareness, self-regulation skills, and basic facilitation techniques that can be used specifically in schools. The program will begin with an interactive lecture on trauma and emotions to establish the foundational understanding for implementing specific self-regulation tools. This will be followed by an experiential portion to get a real feel for how effective this work is and how to implement it. It’s always a great time to release an emotion and you will walk away feeling lighter! Finally, there will be an overview and detailed explanation of the specific tools we can use in helping children self-regulate. There will be a variety of techniques offered based on the amount of time that is available in a given situation. Questions are welcome throughout this presentation to ensure applicability to your specific situations. We will have one-hour for lunch in which you can have food ordered in or bring your lunch.

*Please note that Nina is not teaching individuals how to practice Somatic Experiencing, as that is a 3-year regulated professional program offered only through the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute. This will simply be a basic emotional resiliency curriculum.

Mindfulness Classes:

Mindfulness Classes consist of focusing attention on one’s thoughts and emotions as they show up in the body with an attitude of curiosity and intention for self-study rather than with judgment or reaction. As we learn how the instrument of our body processes thoughts and feelings, we are in a better position to respond rather than react to life events. Furthermore, as we learn how to emotionally heal and self-regulate ourselves, we find ourselves experiencing a better quality of life and can also better show up for our children in teaching them the same skills. Next steps: Check out our event calendar for upcoming workshops.

Managing Stress & Frustration Classes:

This is a two-hour workshop in which we learn through lecture during the first half and then experientially for the second half. Stress and frustration are defensive responses that are usually covering up a vulnerable emotion of hurt or lack of control underneath. As we learn how to locate and feel these underlying emotions in our bodies, we can release them. The stress and frustration then have nothing left to defend and usually melt away. This can be reinforced through practice of specific emotional self-regulation skills. We will also learn how to question beliefs that are fueling our stress and address them through inquiry. As we learn how to emotionally heal and self-regulate ourselves, we find ourselves experiencing a better quality of life and can also better show up for our children in teaching them the same skills. Next steps: Check out our event calendar for upcoming workshops.
