Peace Begins with People
At Peace Learning Center, we provide a wide range of interactive learning opportunities that strengthen social emotional learning (SEL), restorative practices, leadership skills, and community connectedness. Our trainings and programs are designed to meet participants where they are, whether youth, educators, or organizations, and to provide practical tools for building more peaceful, inclusive communities.
For Youth
Peace Learning Center offers hands-on learning experiences that support youth development in leadership, communication, and community engagement.
- Peacebuilder Enrichments (Field Trips)
Teachers and school leaders can schedule a full-day peacebuilding experience for classrooms or student groups at Eagle Creek Park that emphasizes practical skills such as communication, conflict resolution, empathy, and cooperative learning. Each session is customized to meet the needs of the group and may include outdoor learning activities such as guided nature walks, visits to the Earth Discovery Center, nature journaling, and grounding exercises that help students reflect, focus, and connect. - Peer Facilitation Program
This leadership program prepares students to support the well-being of younger peers through a one-week intensive focused on facilitation skills, conflict resolution, restorative practices, and effective communication. Following the training, student leaders co-facilitate a series of eight weekly sessions that promote emotional awareness, leadership development, and positive peer connections within the school community. - Peers Making Peace – A nationally recognized, research-based peer mediation program designed to help schools reduce conflict and strengthen school climate. Schools begin with a two-day training and receive ongoing coaching and support to establish and sustain an effective peer mediation system.
- Afterschool Peace Clubs
Peace Clubs offer 8–16 weeks of afterschool programming that builds foundational social-emotional skills, encourages leadership development, and supports a positive sense of belonging among students.
- Community Building Series
Designed for students interested in service, leadership, and civic engagement, this series brings together youth who want to make a positive impact in their schools and communities. Participants build relationships, develop advocacy and collaboration skills, and explore how they can contribute as engaged, responsible community members.
